{"id":214,"date":"2005-06-04T17:16:30","date_gmt":"2005-06-05T00:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keymasterproductions.com\/blog\/?p=214"},"modified":"2019-01-09T22:56:49","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T22:56:49","slug":"little-mermaid-a-mermaid-no-longer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.keymasterproductions.com\/blog\/2005\/06\/04\/little-mermaid-a-mermaid-no-longer\/","title":{"rendered":"Little Mermaid A Mermaid No Longer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To following up on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sevensquared.com\/blog\/archives\/000184.html\">post from February,<\/a> Peru&#8217;s little mermaid, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2005\/WORLD\/americas\/06\/02\/peru.miracle.baby.ap\/index.html\">Milagros Cerron<\/a>, underwent successful surgery to seperate her legs this past Tuesday.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3981\" src=\"http:\/\/www.keymasterproductions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/06\/mermaid2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"168\" \/><\/div>\n<p>To me, one of the most interesting parts of this story is that &#8220;like many poor people in Peru&#8217;s Andes, Milagros&#8217; parents &#8212; young, humble and devoutly religious people &#8212; at first saw her deformity as a punishment from God and had to be convinced that a medical solution existed,&#8221; said Dr. Luis Rubio. &#8220;Other babies born with congenital defects are often abandoned to die.&#8221; I&#8217;m glad to see that she is not under the sea in Davy Jones&#8217; Locker but rather living and breathing.
